If there ever was a day that needed to be etched on paper, today was one of them. There is a lot to be told, let me start from the beginning��

��Five,�� she said, then, ��Four,�� ��Three,�� ��Two,�� and then ��One,�� we said together in unison. As the clock struck midnight, I scooted up close to her and whispered, ��Thank you for being in my life and through all the ups and downs so patiently. I promise to love you as long as I live�� trying to sound genuine through the cheesiness. She grinned up at me and played along, ��I will always be there for you, my sweetheart��. We laughed and clinked glasses. It was our seventh anniversary and we had wanted to celebrate it with a unique experience. We uncorked a bottle of wine, blew out the candles, cut the anniversary cake, and relished the moment. Ensconced in the tranquillity of the mountains, far from all the crowd and hubbub, we felt like we were in a world that was all our own. It was indeed the most memorable night of my life and those memories will always stay young in my heart. I knew how much she had wanted to be in a pristine place with an inviting resonance and understated elegance. I had found it online, a place that seemed to promise getting us closer to divinity and where time seemed to stand still. It was the perfect romantic escapade for us to enjoy each other��s company without any interference from the outside world �C Shimla was our secret getaway.

I had booked a studio apartment nestled in the lap of nature, with a mesmerising view of the mighty Himalayas carpeted in thousands of shades of green. We were in awe of the undulating mountainscape, of which we had a stunning view from our balcony. Our favourite moment was when I had taken her on an impromptu walk on the nature trail, through terraced organic farms and fruit orchards. At one point, I went down on one knee and claimed my love for her with a wildflower plucked from the hillside; I literally threw all my inhibitions to the wind. I will never forget the look on her face, as the crisp mountain air blew her long hair asunder and the setting sun seemed to have cast an ethereal glow on her porcelain skin. We were in our own little slice of heaven here in this mountain retreat.

The day after, our day began with a taste of a sumptuous gourmet breakfast at the cafe, followed by a transcending experience at the spa centre. And the proverbial icing on the anniversary cake was a candle-lit dinner and drinks in the exquisite fine-dining restaurant with a panoramic view of the mountains covered in a blanket of white snow! Our anniversary was given its due, and then some. And if you��re wondering where; we found love in a place called Amila Hills.
